Visiting the Box.

The Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway Association is a registered charity, number 1016237. It and the railway it owns are operated, managed, developed and maintained entirely by volunteers.

As we now have a lease on the box and the surrounding area and have it fenced from the railways, we have the potential to bring in special visitors and contractors.

However, due to the work going on and the condition of the building, it just isn't practical to do this routinely. There is no working signalling equipment, and since we must prioritise the protection and restoration of the building, it will be some time before there is.

Nevertheless, we would like to encourage people to take an interest in what we are trying to do, and hopefully to join us and support the project either as a volunteer or in other ways.

We are opening the signal box again as part of the annual Risborough Festival.

This year it will be on Saturday 7th July from 10:00 to 16:00.

Access is via platform 3 at the railway station. On arrival at the main entrance cross over the footbridge to platform 3 then follow the signs/instructions towards the signal box which you will be able to see. Adjacent to platform 3 (on the other side of the blue fence) you will see our newly restored platform 4 from which we intend to run steam trains later this year. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. There is a rough footpath to the box from the platform 3 entry point and a steep staircase so robust footwear is strongly advised. Numbers may have to be limited at times for safety reasons.
